When someone asks you for your Zodiac sign, my guess is that you respond with your sun sign. Why would you read any other Zodiac sign’s horoscope? Identifying with my Taurus sun sign in magazine horoscope columns for years, I completely understand why this would be the case. As I have gone deeper into the worlds of Human Design and Astrology to better understand myself, those around me, and the all around magic of the cosmos – I have found that knowing your sun sign is just a small piece of the puzzle. I am so excited to share with you guys 2 other Zodiac signs you should pay attention to in your birth chart and what they mean. You are so much more than your sun sign sweet thang!

Don’t get me wrong – your sun sign is hella important. After all, the Sun is HUGE and a very powerful magnetic field that affects everything and everyone. All the planets revolve around it! Your sun sign consists of your conscious characteristics and that is why you resonate with it so much. It describes your conscious style, personality traits, what you want out of life, and represents the self/ego.
If you have been on Instagram for more than 2 seconds, I am sure you have seen all of the talk of the moon cycles these days. Just like the Sun, the Moon has an incredible gravitational pull on our energy fields and is a very powerful part of your birth chart. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: just look at what it does to the tides of the ocean. That being said, your moon sign (where the moon was the minute you were born) is a huge factor in your personality and represents your inner goddess. Think of your moon sign as the key to your subconscious and emotions. Yes, your sun sign consists of conscious characteristics you can recognize about yourself – but your Moon sign is the person you are behind closed doors or within your circle of trust (think family, close friends, etc). Learning your Moon Sign can really help you identify subconscious blocks or thought patterns and aid in what is called Shadow Work. Which is exactly what it sounds like – working on your shadow. Just like the moon illuminates the night, your moon sign can bring light to your shadow so you can turn it into strengths.

Last but not least, you should dive into your ascendant or rising sign in your birth chart. This changes every 2 hours so be sure to have your correct birth time when calculating your birth chart. What is a rising sign you ask? This is the sign that was rising over the eastern horizon when you were born. Your sun sign represents what you (consciously) want out of life, your moon represents what you (subconsciously) need, and your rising sign represents that style you go about getting what you want/need. Think of it as a direct route to your soul’s purpose.
From your favorite Taurus sun, Aquarius Rising, and Sagittarius moon (aka me) – I hope this post was helpful for you! Learning about these aspects of my birth chart has really helped me understand myself so much more. To find out yours, click here. xo, Cath
