Roan (noun): A realm of color, pattern, and texture that is never the same, never dulls, and has unlimited possibility.
Richmond peeps, have you been to Roan in Carytown? If you haven’t, you need to get there. From one of a kind dresses for a special occasion to the perfect outfit for a drink at Can Can with friends, this boutique has got you covered. The eye for impeccable style and design that Hank, the owner/buyer, has is out of this world. As if the shopping experience that Hank and his team have created at Roan isn’t enough, do you see this Roksanda dress I am wearing? Hank picked it out for me! I am an all-black-everything kinda girl and this dress fulfills my all-black needs with just the right amount of white peaking from the back of it.
There is nothing better than working with an oh-so-chic Richmond boutique and two of our favorite Richmond photographers, J&D Photo. Stay tuned for more pieces from Roan on The Crystal Press and thanks for the great pics, as always, Jada and David!

I see why the previous comment said that the white dress does not mesh with the black one. As to why it is because perhaps of the small slit/ opening in the back. I do not know much about fashion but It looks like having an extra eye in your back ( Figuratively Speaking)
Have to agree with what's being said. The front of the dress is fine, and the shape is innovative and fresh but the big swatch of white in the back looks like a flap was added in order to make it look like two totally different dresses. The front looks great until you see the back and then it makes the very attractive model in the picture look heavier than she probably is. It is altogether too Mary Jane grade school girl from the back. It looks like something a little girl would try on to look grown up in, only to find out it is two sizes too big.
Looks like there are mixed comments for this dress. I like it! I like the fact that the back is unexpected and it's something I'd totally wear.
I agree with what's been said so far regarding the splash of white on the back. I think the sleeves are very neat, but I also think that one way to have added some extra visual interest could have been to put some gems or something on top of the black fabric. Or some of the sleeve fabric could have been added over the black of the dress. Although, that kind of depends on what sort of style you're going for. If you aim for a simpler, more basic appearance, then neither of those suggestions would be a possibility.
This dress gives off a split personality vibe. I guess for a more alternative – made you look effect, it would work. I couldn't imagine this dress fitting into too many categories where it could be worn however. The fabric on the front looks heavy and hot.
Okay, I totally in love with the dress. Just wow! The dress for me fit for any occasion. You can go to work with this or have a evening beers with friend or even go to a blind date. I love how sophisticated vibe that the dress give with a funky accent of the back. The black and white pattern for me had never been innovative as much as like this dress.
I'm not a fan of clothes that seem to avoid body lines altogether, yet this dress has so much going on that I can easily forget that. I love the sleeves, the lace is such an eyecatching detail.
Nice dress even it looks like something don't mixed up with the cloth.
I like the color combo, just wish it was a bit more tapered in the mid section. Also I love the boots. Rockin!
