Happy Monday loves! Looking for things to do in Richmond this Fall? I have a few recommendations for you!
I spent the past week under the weather with little to no energy and wouldn’t you know, it inspired/reminded me to see with new eyes and really make this weekend home in Richmond intentional. I know this sounds less than groundbreaking, but sometimes I find myself spending my weekends reacting (too much) to my surroundings and as a result, showing up to my Monday exhausted. Not exactly ideal after being couch ridden from a cold all week.
Friday, I got together with my good friend/and photographer Hannah and shot some fun content that is in the works! We celebrated a job well done by meeting Reb for vino at Can Can. Did you know they have $5 house glasses of wine (the rosè is delish) during lunch until 3 PM? Reb had some stuff to shoot as well – so we knocked out all kinds of good things! Can’t wait to show you guys what we have up our sleeves for the rest of 2018.
After toasting to a job well done, I went with my hubby to see First Man at our go-to date night spot: Cinebistro at Stony Point Fashion Park. In addition to the Armstrong narrative, I enjoyed the music and the similarities between First Man and La La Land. Sharing the same director, Damien Chazelle, and composer, Justin Hurwitz – this came as no surprise to me. La La Land will always be one of my faves so First Man gave me all of the feels when I heard the score. . Who else loves the Cinebistro movie experience? If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend checking it out. They usually run specials on Tuesday nights that include discounted tickets and 3 course meal deals! Don’t sleep on Cinebistro.
I should mention that while I was under the weather, I found myself a new show. And when I say new show, I do not say this lightly. I went full speed ahead and watched 3 seasons in 4-5 days of Shooter from the USA Network. Staring Ryan Phillipe and based on the novel “Point of Impact” by Stephen Hunter and the 2007 feature film staring Mary Mark, Shooter caught my attention in the first 10 minutes. I know I said I didn’t have any energy but does watching TV take energy? It isn’t my usual kind of sitcom but for some reason, once I popped I just couldn’t stop. And it continued into the weekend….until I finished all available episodes.
Saturday morning, I woke up and went to my local gym. After getting things done around the house, I went to check out the Anther Launch Party. (If you’re wondering where Reb was, she was slinging towels at St. Christopher’s fall fest!) I LOVE seeing boss babes following their dream in Richmond and Anther was nothing short of this! The launch party was actual goals – the backyard was decked to the nines in the chicest, hand crafted jewelry (ethically sourced and made by women!!!!) and best decor. Kimberly and Stephanie really have created something amazing with Anther – check out the website here.
PS How good is the jumpsuit from ASOS? A full outfit for $64 dollars. Jumpsuits are becoming my new favorite thing because it is so hard to beat their versatility! Dress them up or down – and wear them all around town. Linked here.
Sunday, I tried BOHO Cycle for the first time in the Museum District. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to take a cycling class at this lovely establishment in Richmond. I love the fact that it is dark in the cycling room with loud pop music. And I must add that I adore how it makes cardio WAY more fun. If I am being completely honest, the hardest part about the class was clipping my shoes in. I feel like I should watch Youtube videos before I go to my next class because I came unclipped throughout the class and well, I don’t want to be that person again. lol
I felt full of energy after my BOHO Sunday ride so I came home and got to work on my to-do list. I cleaned my office (can you tell I had to brag to someone?) – this task has been haunting me for longer than it should. On the bright side, I gave away bags and bags of clothing to Goodwill and Thred Up AND I can finally see the floor! It’s the little things guys, the little things.
After finishing up my Sunday to-dos, Kevin and I headed to a new restaurant that just opened up in Richmond called Kreggers At Hand off of Cary Street. Their original location was in Ashland, VA and this is their second restaurant. Whenever we try new restaurants, my strategy is always to order an appetizer first, try it, and then put in my order for food. The appetizer is always a good way to gage what you are craving from the new spot! At Kreggers, Kevin and I stuck to our usual strategy and ordered the Buffalo Chicken Empanadas as an appetizer first. While we waited, we enjoyed some red wine on tap.
Holy moly – these empanadas were out.of.this.world. I would have never thought to combine buffalo chicken with empanadas but I sure am glad Kreggers did. After tasting this deliciousness, I decided to order the fish tacos for my entree. Kevin ordered the chicken tacos. We both love any style Mexican food and eat it frequently and these tacos were some of the best we’ve had in RVA. Aside from the delicious menu, the decor inside and the patio outside is very cool. They had an additional bar on the patio with fire pits for the cooler nights.
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and get a chance to check out these awesome things happening in RVA! (If none of these options tickle your fancy, check out my RVA date night guide here.) I am finishing the night with this blogpost, my new overnight Moroccan Oil body serum (packed full of vitamins and so moisturizing), and Alec Baldwin interviewing Kim Kardashian on his new show………….and just like that, I’m ready for the week.
ILY guys! xo
