If you guys have been hanging out at cathclaire.com for awhile, you know that I am a big lover of striped fashion and striped….well, anything. Particularly black and white stripes. I have stripes all over my home, striped accessories, stripes in my wedding, and LOTS of black and white striped clothing. Take this Staud striped bag in these outfit photos for example, what a lovely striped accessory!

I love stripes because they make a statement AND I love stripes because I am fascinated by the concept of contrast. Whether it be the contrast of a photo or the contrast concept presented by Abraham Hick’s teachings – I love how contrast in any way has the power to clarify.

You cannot know what you want if you do not know what you don’t want. Abraham teaches that when what you don’t want shows up in your life, identify it as the contrast necessary to decide what you DO WANT, and quickly shift your attention to the conclusion or what you want. Treating contrast in your life with this awareness is the first step to the creation process and therefore, creates expansion throughout your life. After all, a photo without any contrast isn’t that interesting to look at. It’s dull and difficult to see the subject of the photo.
Think of the contrast in your life as if you were an artist sculpting a beautiful sculpture. Identify the pieces that don’t belong to your sculpture with a neutral attitude and chip them away, while primarily focusing on your masterpiece.
